William H. Foote, Cambridge, MA.
"One of the most classical heads in Cambridge is that of W.H.Foote, who has probably posed for paintings of more noted men than any person in this vicinity. He is in frequent demand by artists for reproduction and study. His pictures at photographers are often mistaken for those of Longfellow and Walt Whitman, and he is imagined to be a person of rare intellect. As a matter of fact he is not in any way remarkable, but is a simple, kindly man and a hard worker (as a cane chair seater)."
