Liebe Family

Carl Moritz Liebe was born on 1 November 1831 in Saxony (Germany). In February of 1853, at the age of 21, he left from Bremen, Germany on the ship "Kosmos", arriving at the port of New York on 22 April 1853. Three months later he had made his way to Wisconsin, purchasing the original 40 acres of his homestead at Mosel, Sheboygan County for $193.00.

On 22 April 1856 Carl Moritz Liebe married Wendelina Augusta Friederike Schaaf at Mosel. Wendelina was born on 18 Aug 1836 in Eischleben, Sax-Coburg Gotha, Thuringen, Germany to Lorenz and Ernestine (Nickolai) Schaaf. The Schaaf family immigrated to Wisconsin about 1854.

Carl and Wendelina had fourteen children: Thekla Hulda (Braunsdorf), Emilia Minnie (Spann), Augusta Ida (Feld), Amelia Dorothea (Clark), Rosalia Laura (Breuchel), Amalia Therese, Ernestina Marie (Athorp), Elisabeth, Carl Otto, Ernst Ferdinand, Laura Theckla Paulina (Flaig), Gustave Adolph, Bertha Louise, and Adolph Carl Johannes.
